Hello All team Captains and competitors 

This is the 3rd newsletter of the 2026 season. 

And we are off. The first round has started. Congratulations go to…

Abridge & Brentwood for being the first teams to battle it out, 

and also to Benton Hall for securing the first away win of the season in their match up against Bentley.

Also I went over to watch a hard fought, close and brilliant match with Chigwell hosting my club Forrester Park on a cold, windy but largely dry day. In the match Chigwell proved a little stronger over the closing holes, running out 6&3 winners. But a great match played in the true Jubilee Cup spirit with Chigwell being excellent hosts, the halfway hut sausage rolls were outstanding… thank you and well played Chigwell.

I’m happy to come over and watch any games where I can get there, if you let me know when they are happening I’ll try and get over, especially if there is a sausage roll and a Guinness to be had.

A summary of all first round matches to date is below.

7 Away Wins and  One Draw with 5 matches halved in Burnham on crouch versus  The Warren game. Outstanding golf everybody …..

In the Colchester versus Theydon Bois game it went  down to last doubles game down the 18 th with Colchester prevailing .

The early order of merit is also on the results sheet but with 3 more league matches and knockout rounds it’s very early days yet.

On a rules issue, there has been a number of incorrect handicaps recorded and whether inadvertent or otherwise, where this affects eligibility and in the pairs matches, the shots given calculation, then to protect the integrity of the competition, penalties will be incurred, so captains please ensure your recorded handicaps are the true handicaps of each player on the day of the match please. Committee has decided that, whilst the Jubilee Cup is all about playing the game and having a friendly matchplay competition, any incorrect handicap for a pairs game which affected shots given will be penalised such that the game will be forfeit and the opposition will be deemed to have won that game 4&3 just as in the game not played rule. The other games in the match are not affected and will score in the usual way. I hope that is both clear and reasonable to all.

I know some people like to have a printout of the match sheet one the day so I have put a blank sheet in everyone’s match day sheets on top of the digital ones.

Please do not send images of the printouts or pdfs of your results just fill in the online match day sheets, let me know that they’ve ready and I can see them all. Also please do not change the names of the sheets and only input data into the boxes that are coloured light blue. Other cells on the sheets contain data and calculations for handicaps, shots and points so messing with them stuffs the whole sheet up. Thanks.

Everyone should have at least one person in their club that has editing rights to the sheets. If you need another just let me know their email linked to the google account and it’s a quick fix.
